你的快乐

就在这一刻全世界

我是真的为你爱了

你是真的跟他走了

我心如刀割
wo xin ru dao ge

TRANSLATION:
My days are gray
My heart is blue
What's touching your heart
Is actually transparent

Your contentment is self obtained
I feel helpless
The pain in my heart
is actually your happiness

Actually I don't want to be reluctant to part with you
But something is making me toss and turn in bed
I don't think that saying it over and over
Will actually make the days brighter
There is now a bitter taste in the side of my mouth

I really cried for you
You really left for him
In this very moment the role of the world's most broken-hearted
Is to much for just me

I really loved for you
You really left with him
What I can give, I've given it all
I'm completely ready to part
Besides that, just letting you know...
My heart feels like it's been pierced by a knife.

END

An extremely rough translation for you all. As anyone who understands Chinese and English knows, translating language in use is difficult enough. Translating poetry in music either way is truly extremely difficult. If anyone would like to modify any portion, leave a comment!

Hope you enjoyed my first project.
Thanks for reading, see you all next time.

Chinese Lyrics in Translation: My Purpose

Welcome all,

If you have reached this blog, it is likely that you did so through my other site. If that is the case then you know that I spend a majority of my conscious hours studying Chinese. Aside from studying in the formal senses, I also enjoy listening to music (esp. from the '80s and '90s). I believe that studying Chinese song lyrics can be a good way to maintain and grow a strong vocabulary, as well as challenge a learner to produce and utilize translation skills. It is for that reason that I have started this blog. Once a week I will post one of my favorite songs, as well as a rough translation for it along with romanized phonetics for pronunciation. It's a challenge for me, and could be beneficial to my readers as well.

I welcome comments both in the form of constructive criticism and discussion (both in English and in Chinese). Translations can be controversial and I welcome any info that could make allow me to see things in a different light, or help me improve my understanding of Chinese language and culture.

With that said, let the fun begin! Stay tuned for my first Chinese Lyric in Translation: 歌手:张学友 - 歌曲: 心如刀割
